About Athi

Athi Jara is a distinguished lawyer and Director of the Mining and Environmental Law Department at Poswa Incorporated. She also serves as Editorial Director for The Legal Industry Review, where she drives content and discourse in legal developments, policy, and industry trends.

With deep expertise in environmental governance, mining law, regulatory compliance, and licensing, Athi advises mining houses, energy companies and public institutions on complex matters, including environmental impact assessments, community engagements, and dispute resolution. She is known for her ability to combine legal precision with strategic insight, helping clients balance compliance, sustainability, and business goals.

In her dual roles as a practitioner and an editor, Athi influences both the practice of law and the broader conversation around legal industry issues. Her leadership is defined by innovation, professionalism, and a commitment to elevating standards in legal service delivery and environmental justice.

Previously, she held senior leadership roles in prominent law firms, including being a Director and Head of Mining & Environmental Law Departments at Gwina Attorneys and LNP Attorneys, and as Senior Associate at Edward Nathan Sonnenberg (ENSafrica) and Bowman Gilfillan. She began her career as a Candidate Attorney and Associate at Eversheds (formerly Routledge Modise), gaining broad experience in corporate, commercial, mining, environmental, energy, labour law and pro bono work.
