About Naledi
Advocate Naledi Mothapo joined Poswa Incorporated in June 2023 as Head of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department. She obtained her LLB degree from the University of Limpopo in 2008, followed by Practical Legal Training in early 2009.
Naledi began her legal career in August 2009 as a Candidate Attorney at Tumi Mokwena Incorporated and was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court in September 2010. She went on to serve as an Associate at the same firm until December 2013.
In 2014, Naledi answered the call to the Bar and completed her pupillage through the Johannesburg Bar Council. Following her removal from the roll of attorneys, she was admitted as an Advocate of the High Court in August 2014. She practised as an advocate at the Bar from 2014 until December 2022, before joining Poswa Incorporated in 2023 to lead the firm’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice.
With over 15 years of experience in litigation and dispute resolution, Naledi has represented a wide range of clients across both the public and private sectors, including state-owned entities, municipalities, and non-governmental organisations. Her areas of expertise include commercial law, procurement law, insurance law, administrative law, and constitutional law.
Naledi has gained extensive experience in matters arising under the Promotion of Administrative Justice Act (PAJA) and in resolving complex commercial disputes, particularly within the High Court and through arbitration proceedings. Her professional strengths include analysing legal issues, interpreting and applying legislation, and drafting pleadings for the institution or defence of litigation.
She is also highly skilled in providing strategic legal advice on matters of legal and reputational risk, policy formulation, and contract negotiation. Her proficiency in comprehensive legal research and drafting underscores her meticulous and analytical approach to legal practice.
